Newborn Baby Photography Session – Mila

It is always my pleasure to travel to Dubai to photograph newborns. Once I arrive to a new location, I always take a look around to choose the best room for natural light. Thankfully here in the UAE we get plenty of sunshine and it isn’t often a problem to find!! This darling baby girl was such a dream to photograph. She slept so soundly for her session and had the most beautiful curly eyelashes! After a little break to feed she had a few more photographs with her gorgeous Mum. These are often some of the most treasured photographs in a newborn session.

I am fortunate to have the help of my husband from Jody Haddow to bring these newborn photographs to life in our new birth announcement videos!! Introducing sweet baby Mila <3

Newborn baby picture sessions take place within 5-12 days after baby’s birth and my calendar fills up quickly. It is suggested that you book your newborn photographer at the beginning of your second trimester to guarantee room on their calendar around your baby’s estimated due date.  I can’t wait to take your precious baby’s photos!

LEARN | Newborn Workshop with Nicole Smith Photography

I am very fortunate to have been in Vancouver, BC this summer at just the right time to attend Nicole Smith Photography’s Newborn Workshop!! World renown, Nicole brought her stunning warm and moody newborn portraits to life for us, openly sharing her tips and tricks & stunning poses (as well as being the cutest thing to boot in the meantime;)!!

We shared a full day with 4 gorgeous little newborn models watching soothing, posing & wrapping techniques and then taking turns capturing images of these little beauties to share with you!

Being able to meet with some other photographers back in Canada was so much fun and I look forward to seeing more of these girls upon our return next summer.

SNUGGLE | Newborn Maternity Baby Photographer

A short time ago I was approached by Dubai-based blogger Heidi. It is a blog “celebrating the UAE’s smart, stylish mums which covers everything that is fun and beautiful about mothering” here. Absolutely. Heidi’s posts are always interesting and they cover a wide range of topics which as a mum are not only informative but fun to read.

So when she contacted me, it was exciting to hear of her interest to observe a newborn baby photo session♥ She asked me to photograph her gorgeous friend’s 6 day old baby girl, Mila. My assistant Clare and I headed off from Al Ain to Dubai and after getting a little lost on the way (Dubai has a way of doing that to you;) we got settled in.

Mila was a darling!! Wide awake at first she took everything in but over the course of the morning we persuaded her to sleep to catch some precious memories for her Mum & Dad:). We used creamy natural tones with a touch of pink which was lovely with her skin tone.

DREAM | Victoria BC Maternity Baby Photography

This is my very first official blog post….ever!!! Not sure why I’ve shied away from blogging for so long, but in the world of photography it seems like a pretty important thing to start. So as part of my New Year “improvements” this is the first of many posts to come;). Very excited to introduce you to my newly renovated website. A huge shout out to my awesome husband, who turned these website dreams into reality!!

Ideally newborns come into the studio when they are between 4-10 days old. These sessions are often up to 3 hours long. My assistant Clare is always next to baby making sure that he or she is safe and comfortable at all times. Photographing babies at this age helps us capture those sleepy, curly little poses that only newborns can do so beautifully. Precious moments frozen in time when baby is tiny. Soft feathery hair, flaky skin and gorgeous little fingers and toes. To me a newborn is perfection.

Without further ado, here is this gorgeous little boy who came into the studio before the holiday break. I have photographed this family before and it is always lovely to see them and watch their family grow.
