Mommy and Me Sunset Photo Session

These are the moments we remember the most, the times our little ones held our hands, the tug to be lifted up, the giggles, the cuddles and all those in between moments. Heading out on these little adventures with other moms and their sweet little ones are some of my very favourite family photo sessions!

I’m getting itchy feet to get back out in the sunset evenings to do more! It seemed fitting for the first day of Spring to be the day to start sharing outdoor sessions. So many were missed from blogging, so it’s time to catch up on sharing them now!

Mommy and Me Sunset 1

This mama and her sweet little girl came out for an evening October session (if you can believe it!) It was a funny few days of summer sun here in Victoria and the warmest temperatures, just before a cold snap began. We walked from my studio on Bear Mountain to a little grassy hill and were able to capture the sweetest little session for these two beauties.

I know how many photos we get of our children, and it isn’t many! I think that these precious times have to be remembered. The photos I have with my kids are so special to me and also to them. Mamas, make sure you get in the frame every now and then, it really is so important!

If you would like to book a Spring or Summer family or Mommy-and-Me session, please don’t hesitate to call me at 250-885-6860 or write me a note at amandahaddow@gmail.com

How do you balance your photography life vs. personal life (it’s a tough one!)

This is a subject that is tough to tackle!! I think Jenna Kutcher’s blog is the first place I read that “Balance is a Mystical Unicorn” and I have to agree!! I think most moms who work and balance family life will have to tackle how to find balance early on.

Having started my photography as a hobbyist and then developing a business in the United Arab Emirates gave me a chance to learn and grow at a much slower pace. It wasn’t a career path I had imagined taking but after falling in love with newborn photography early on in our time away, I had the time to learn my craft and the flexibility to learn editing, client relations etc organically. After moving our family (and business) to Canada 18 months ago, those systems were in place but it became necessary to grow at a much faster pace! All of a sudden my work days became 12 hours and new systems needed to be developed to help me work much more efficiently. These systems are not perfected yet.

Running a business that allows me to capture other families memories while being fully present in living my very own is now my goal. If you have tips and tricks that you use to find balance in running your balance as well as your family life, I would love to hear your strategies and methods that work in your home!!

Beautiful baby Isaac

This gorgeous baby boy!! He was honestly so very good for us and proud big sis made an appearance too. I love how these dreamy colors that mom chose just flow together, neutral with a little splash of baby blue. Scroll a little further down to play his birth announcement, one of the options you can add on to your newborn session. Beautiful baby Isaac ♥

Call us crazy, but a few weeks ago we made the move all the way across the world from Abu Dhabi to Victoria, BC, Canada!! I have to admit there’s a little culture shock going on for us all, it will take some getting used to but baby steps…. One of our major concerns was for me to find a studio space in Victoria. The search began a few weeks back with little success and then as fate, luck, kismet (you decide;) would have it I was introduced online through a mutual friend to another photographer here in Victoria! Long story short but she has invited me to share a really fabulous studio space on Yates & Government (you know the corner, it’s right above the Starbucks). Exciting, right?!! A little sooner than anticipated so things will get set up over the course of the summer but I have started booking  clients in from mid-August onwards. If you are interested in booking a maternity, newborn or family photography session with Amanda Haddow Photography please contact for details at 250-885-6860 or email at amandahaddow@gmail.com. Can’t wait to meet you, let this new adventure begin!
